A Brentwood woman walking home from the supermarket Friday afternoon was punched in the head by one man and kicked by another, Suffolk police said.

Ada Dinora Lachuga, 51, and witnesses told police four young men approached her about 3 p.m. as she was walking on MacArthur Avenue in Brentwood. After she was punched in the head and kicked, Lachuga fell to the ground, and the suspects fled, police said.

She was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Brentwood Legion Ambulance and later released.

Lachuga's family believes she is a victim of the "knockout game," a growing trend in which unsuspecting victims are sucker-punched in order to knock them unconscious.

She has a broken rib, Lachuga's sister Alba Juarez said, and may have to return to the hospital because of severe head pain and episodes of vomiting since the attack.

"It was very scary, when I got there and I saw the police there and my sister on the floor," Juarez said. "To know that it's happening here -- right here -- it's not just happening in the city . . . it's a scary thing."

As of Friday night, no arrests had been made. Third Precinct Crime Control officers are investigating, police said.
