Two Bay Shore brothers were arrested Friday and charged with a string of home burglaries in Brightwaters, Great River, and Bay Shore that began five days after one brother was released from jail, Suffolk police said.

Corey Hinton, 26, of 61 Belford Ave., was charged with eight counts of second degree burglary. Shea Hinton, 24, of the same address, was charged with two counts of second degree burglary and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

Third Squad Det. Sgt. Patrick Brooks, said Corey Hinton was released in April after serving time for a burglary conviction. "The big thing is he got out of jail April 9, and that's when we started getting hit," Brooks said.

More than $10,000 worth of valuables, such as rings, video games, a television and other jewelry, and electronics, were taken by them from unoccupied homes between April and May 22, Brooks said.

"We recovered a number of the items," he said. "We started just checking the pawns and seeing where things were pawned and back tracking."

Both brothers were to be held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip.
