A bullet grazed the face of a North Amityville man trying to escape two attackers Friday night, Suffolk police said. The victim was treated for minor injuries and released.

The two suspects approached the 19-year-old at about 9:50 p.m. as he was walking east on Nathalie Avenue near Route 110 in North Amityville, police said.

The teenager tried to evade the suspects by running through some backyards nearby, police said. One of the suspects fired a handgun at him four times, and one bullet hit him as he fled, police said.

The victim's family, which recently moved to North Amityville from Queens, drove him to Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica, police said.

Police say the two suspects were described as being in their 30s. One of the men wore his hair in braids, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk Police First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
