A Wading River man attempting to burglarize a Shoreham home was ultimately foiled by a teen's 911 call, Suffolk police said.

When Corey Hartmann, 25, of North Side Road, knocked on the door of the Columbia Court home on Friday, the 16-year-old boy was home alone and did not answer, police said. Hartmann entered the home and, while he rummaged through the house, the teen called 911, giving a description of a car parked outside the home, police said.

Hartmann left and was in his car nearby when police arrested him, police said. Hartmann was charged with second-degree burglary and criminal possession of a substance, police said.

The incident occurred at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
