Cops: Cabbie high on drugs while driving in Flanders
A cabbie from Bellport was arrested early Wednesday after he was caught driving a taxi in Flanders while high on drugs, police said.
Elmer Guevara, 26, was driving a Hampton Town Taxi with a lighted "on duty" sign when he was stopped and arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
Southampton Town Police also charged Guevara with two traffic infractions - driving on a shoulder and failure to maintain a lane.
Police said Guevara was seen driving on the shoulder of Flanders Road and weaving in and out of his lane.
He was stopped and evaluated by Southampton officer, as well as one from the Quogue Village Police Department, police said in a news release. He was being held for arraignment.
