Cops: Car crashes onto porch of Port Jefferson home

A 29-year-old woman has minor injuries after the car she was driving left the road late Thursday and crashed onto the front porch of a home in Port Jefferson, Suffolk County police said.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she was treated and released.

Police said she was unlicensed, and there was no other criminality involved.

The accident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on Main Street.

Police said the woman, driving a PT Cruiser, lost control of the vehicle, left the road -- and crashed through a fence and onto the front porch of a house. No one inside the home was injured, police said.
