A 38-year-old man faces charges in a string of commercial burglaries after police said he was stopped by officers as he attempted to flee the scene of his latest break-in Saturday in Islandia.

Luis Arroyo, of 44 E. Halley Lane, Central Islip, was charged with nine counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree and fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree and fourth-degree criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and petty larceny following the arrest near the intersection of Motor Parkway and Hawthorne Avenue in Hauppauge at 3:40 a.m., Suffolk police said.

Arroyo is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said Arroyo was arrested following a traffic stop as he attempted to flee a burglary scene in a stolen vehicle.

That burglary took place at a building on Express Drive North in Islandia, police said.

Police said that, following his arrest, Arroyo was linked to a string of commercial burglaries at industrial parks in Bohemia, Islandia, Ronkonkoma and Hauppauge. Police said that "various electronics and computer equipment" were stolen during those burglaries.

Police did not provide a time frame.

Police said investigators are trying to determine if Arroyo is linked to other unsolved burglaries.
