Police responding to the scene of a minor car accident in Southampton arrested a Connecticut man, charging him with driving while ability impaired by drugs among other charges.

The accident occurred Saturday at 6:54 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 39 and David Whites Lane, Southampton Town police said.

Arrested was Steven J. Meunier, 34, of West Haven, Conn. He was charged with DWAI, following too closely, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of controlled substances by ultimate users original container -- a violation of Public Health Law.

Arraignment details were not immediately available.

Police said no one was injured in the accident.

Police said an investigation found that Meunier was "intoxicated by prescription medication," but additional details were also not available.
