A Deer Park man has been charged in the stabbing of a 29-year-old West Babylon man early Saturday behind a local sports bar, Suffolk County police said.

The attack occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at 50 Yard Line Sports Bar on Little East Neck Road in West Babylon. The victim, whose name has not been released, was stabbed in the back, neck and stomach, police said.

Patrons at the bar detained the suspect, John Black, 28, of Baldwin Path, until officers from the First Precinct arrived.

Black is charged with second-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Central Islip.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where police said he was in critical but stable condition.
