A 21-year-old woman who lost control of her car and hit a tree in Water Mill late Thursday was arrested after being released from a hospital and charged with driving while intoxicated, Southampton Town police said.

Amanda Walters of Patchogue was held overnight at police headquarters and faces arraignment Friday in Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.

Walters lost control of her 1999 Hyundai while driving on Montauk Highway near Proprietors Road at about 11:30 p.m., striking a tree, police said.

She was taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment, then was arrested on the DWI charge.
