Cops: Driver arrested in hit-run

A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he fled the scene of an accident with injury in Riverside, Southampton Town police said.

Marco Antonio Cruz of Riverside was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, as well as unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and with driving with only one license plate, police said.

He was held for arraignment after his arrest in Westhampton Beach.

Southampton Town police said the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance.

Police said the accident happened at 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Ludlam Avenue and Flanders Road in Riverside.

The vehicles were later located on Montauk Highway near Rogers Lane in Westhampton Beach -- after, police said, the driver of the vehicle that was hit followed Cruz as he fled.
