Suffolk police Friday identified the woman struck by a car and killed Thursday evening in Cold Spring Harbor -- and said the driver was charged with a misdemeanor.

Jean Carr, 78, of Syosset, was crossing Main Street just after 6 p.m. when she was struck by a 2002 Honda Accord driven by a Huntington woman with a suspended license, police said. Carr was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver, Rita Wallace, 40, of 50 Willow Ave., of Huntington, was charged with second-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She was released on bail, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
