A Coram man was critically injured in a single-car crash early Friday that temporarily closed ramps and eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway in Commack, Suffolk County police said.

Leon Parks, 23, was driving east in a 2013 Nissan Altima which struck a guardrail at Exit 53 and overturned at 4:46 a.m., police said. Witnesses said Parks "was driving at a high rate of speed," said police.

Parks was taken by Suffolk police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said. The investigation is continuing, and police ask anyone with information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
