A Bay Shore motorist with 61 suspensions and revocations of his driving license was stopped and arrested Friday, police said, after officers saw him drive a car through a red light in Central Islip.

Matthew R. Smith, 27, of 60 Frederick Ave., Bay Shore, was also charged with false personation, unlawful possession of marijuana, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Smith was traveling west on Suffolk Avenue about 2 p.m., police said, after going through the red light at Carleton Avenue.

Smith initially falsely identified himself, police said, but after officers did a Department of Motor Vehicles check his true identity was uncovered along with the 56 previous suspensions and five revocations.

Smith was to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court, Central Islip.
