A driver who was seriously injured during an early morning collision Friday in Holbrook has been charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
Michael Young, 55, of Holbrook, suffered what Suffolk County police described as "non-life-threatening injuries" -- and remains hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital. He faces arraignment at a later date, police said.
Police said Young, driving a gray Toyota westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, crashed into a tractor trailer that was pulling out of a warehouse parking lot at 5:46 a.m. The crash, which occurred near Broadway Avenue, closed westbound Vets Highway for about three hours and 45 minutes.
Police said the tractor-trailer driver was not injured or charged.
