A Medford man who lost control of his car Monday afternoon in Riverside, crashing into the median on County Road 51, was arrested and charged with driving while ability-impaired by drugs, police said.

Southampton Town police said Denzel T. Faines, 21, also was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

He was held for arraignment Tuesday in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Police said Faines was "driving erratically" and lost control of his car, driving onto the median on CR 51 just before 3:30 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was damaged and became disabled after the crash, police said.

A subsequent investigation revealed Faines was impaired by drugs, police said, and he was arrested at the scene.
