Cops: Driver on Southern State caught with drugs
After being pulled over for traffic violations on the Southern State Parkway, a Copiague man was arrested on drug possession charges Sunday night, State Police said.
David Marmol, 29, of Copiague, was driving a 2005 Jeep westbound on the parkway near Wantagh Avenue when he was stopped, police said.
Troopers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Jeep and searched the vehicle, police said.
The search found Marmol with 30 grams of crack cocaine, 18 grams of powdered cocaine, 12 grams of marijuana and small quantities of the painkiller Vicodin and the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, police said.
Police said Marmol is on parole for a 2001 robbery conviction.
He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
