Cops: Driver was high while driving on Southern in N. Amityville
An Amityville woman who was weaving in and out of traffic on the Southern State Parkway Thursday morning in North Amityville was arrested on drug charges and driving while under the influence of drugs after police found her with crack cocaine, State Police said.
Marci Brewster, 45, of 64 Nathalie Ave., was stopped near Exit 32, Route 110, driving west in a gray Nissan Altima, police said.
She was unable to produce a driver's license, and troopers said Brewster made "furtive movements toward her left jean pants cuff," a report said.
A search discovered Brewster had a piece of white rock, which police suspected as crack cocaine. She also admitted to "smoking crack earlier in the night," police said.
Brewster was charged with DWI drugs, possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and several traffic violations, police said.
She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead in the near future.
