A driver stopped after his vehicle swerved on County Road 19 in Holbrook told police he had been trying to blow into an interlock device installed after a DWI conviction, Suffolk County police said.

Justin Mullany, 34, of Blue Point, was charged "driving while ability impaired by drugs" and was awaiting arraignment Friday in First District Court in Central Islip, police said.

Mullany was stopped by Canine Section Officer Robert Fenwick about 9:36 p.m. Thursday after Mullany's 2011 Nissan Frontier swerved between lanes, police said.

Mullany "appeared confused and was unable to locate paperwork . . .[and] told police that he was swerving because he was attempting to blow into the interlock device," police said in a statement.

Details of Mullany's DWI history were not immediately available. In a news release police did not provide details about the type of drugs the driver was suspected of using.

He was to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
