Cops: Drug-impaired man crashes in Mattituck
A Riverhead man was arrested Sunday evening, charged with driving while ability-impaired by drugs, after police said he crashed into another car on Route 25 in Mattituck.
The accident occurred at 5:50 p.m., Southold Town police said. No one was injured.
Police said Randy Majewski of Newtown Avenue was arrested and charged with DWAI and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
According to police, Majewski was "attempting to make a right turn" onto New Suffolk Avenue when he struck the other vehicle, which was stopped at a stop sign.
Police said Majewski failed a field sobriety test and that officers found he was in possession of "a quantity of Oxycodone pills without a prescription."
Arraignment details were not immediately available.
