A Middle Island man stopped Monday for speeding on Route 27 in Hampton Bays faces drug and weapons charges, state police said.

Christopher Hoppe, 32, of 12 Patricia Ct., was driving a black Acura eastbound on Route 27 when he was pulled over about 10:19 p.m., New York State Police said.

Troopers noticed a smell of marijuana while interviewing Hoppe, and a search of the car yielded a gram of marijuana, a glass pipe with marijuana residue and brass knuckles, police said.

Hoppe was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is scheduled to appear Nov. 29 at the Town of Southampton Court.
