Cops: Drunken driver, passenger hurt in crash

A 28-year-old Bay Shore man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after he crashed into a pole on Great East Neck Road in West Babylon, injuring both himself and a female passenger, police said.
Mohammed Farooq was driving his 1994 BMW when he crashed into a utility pole near Raynor Street at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.
Farooq was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore after the crash, while the female passenger was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
Police said Farooq and the passenger, whose identity was not released, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Farooq was charged with driving while intoxicated and is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
