A Maine man who drove into the parking lot of the State Police barracks in Riverside faces a drunken driving charge, State Police said Monday.

James Griffin, 47, of Portland, drove a black Dodge pickup into the lot at about 11:25 p.m. Thursday, police said.

During an interview with Griffin troopers detected an odor of alcohol, police said. He provided a breath-analyzer reading of .10 percent and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Police did not immediately say why Griffin had chosen to drive into the lot at the barracks.

He is scheduled to appear at Town of Southampton Justice Court on Feb. 12, police said.
