A Selden woman was drunk with her 2-year-old child in her car when she hit a pedestrian holding his son Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man was struck by a 2014 Mazda at about 3:15 p.m. on Marshall Drive in Selden. He sustained a shoulder injury; the child wasn't injured, Suffolk police said.

Nina Gebarowski, 38, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. She and her child weren't injured.

Police did not release the result from a blood-alcohol test.

Gebarowski is charged under Leandra's Law, which makes driving drunk with a passenger age 15 or younger a felony.

At her arraignment Friday, Gebarowski was released on her own recognizance.

Her attorney, Craig McElwee of North Babylon, said she was making a turn when she hit the pedestrian as he crossed the street.

"She got out of the car and went to aid the person until police arrived," McElwee said.

Gebarowski told officers she drank one beer and wasn't intoxicated, her attorney said.
