An East Hampton man was arrested Monday in the robbery of a local liquor store at gunpoint during the weekend, East Hampton Town police said.

Witness descriptions and video surveillance footage led officers to suspect John X. Tracy III, 19, in the robbery of the Springs Wines and Liquor store just before 5 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The suspect had confronted the store clerk and threatened to use his gun, police said. After taking money from the cash register, the suspect ran, going west along Fort Pond Boulevard, police said.

Tracy was arrested just before 10 a.m. as he was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck in East Hampton, police said. He is to be arraigned on first-degree robbery Tuesday in East Hampton Justice Court.
