A former West Babylon church janitor was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglarizing the church, Suffolk police said.
Steven Krasowsky, 45, of Rosella Court, West Babylon, is accused of entering Our Lady of Grace Church in West Babylon through a basement window at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, police said, and trying to steal money from a church safe.
Detectives said the suspect was unable to break into the safe and fled, but a security camera at the church captured his image.
Krasowsky, who worked at the church from February 2008 until May 2009, was identified through the image and arrested at his home, police said.
He was to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court, Central Islip, on a charge of third degree burglary.
