Cops: Flag-wielding vandal in Hampton Bays
A 21-year-old Nesconset man was arrested Monday night after a police detective saw him attempting to smash train station windows in Hampton Bays -- with an American flag on a flagpole.
James P. Figliozzi was charged with fourth-degree attempted criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, Southampton police said. Arraignment details were not available.
Police said a Southampton Police detective saw Figliozzi attempting to smash the windows at the Long Island Rail Road Station in Hampton Bays about 11:40 p.m.
It was not immediately clear where Figliozzi got the flagpole and flag, and police said that is under investigation.
