Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck a 14-year-old girl Monday night as she walked along the shoulder of eastbound County Road 16, Horseblock Road, in Medford, police said.

The girl suffered a broken leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The vehicle was believed to be a pickup truck or sport utility vehicle, Suffolk County police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the 9:12 p.m. accident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
