Cops: Girl's leg freed from school bus seat
A 6-year-old was taken to a hospital as a precaution after she got her leg stuck under a school bus seat en route to school Friday morning in Rocky Point, police said.
Neither the name of the bus company nor the identity of the 6-year-old was released, but Suffolk County police said she was en route to the Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School.
The incident, which took place on Rocky Point Road, occurred at 9:37 a.m.
Police said the girl's leg somehow became stuck "between the seat and the wheel well."
Her leg was stuck above the knee, police said.
Volunteers from the Rocky Point Fire Department cut the legs off the bus seat to free the girl. She was then taken to a hospital for precautionary measures.
