A Huntington Station man was arrested Tuesday morning after Second Precinct officers caught him burglarizing a Halesite home, police said.
Neighborhood Enforcement/Special Operations Team officers saw Matthew Schramm, 55, of 42 Nichols Place, breaking into a home on Bay Avenue at about 11 a.m., Suffolk police said in a Wednesday news release.
"When officers approached Schramm, he attempted to flee in his Honda Civic and struck an unmarked police car after he was surrounded by other police cars," police said in the release. "Schramm attempted to flee on foot but officers apprehended him and a struggle ensued."
Schramm will be arraigned at a later date on charges of second-degree burglary and resisting arrest. He was taken to Huntington Hospital after complaining of chest pains.
