A Hampton Bays man arrested Wednesday for allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs almost struck a police car and hit a KeySpan truck before being taken into custody, Southampton Town police said.

According to police, Scott D. Golden, 41, was seen driving a white Mitsubishi Montero "erratically" at 6:17 p.m. in Southampton and almost hit a marked police car before he crashed into a KeySpan truck.

During the investigation officers determined Golden was ability-impaired, and he was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired and reckless driving, police said.

Golden refused to submit to a chemical blood test, police said, and was arraigned Thursday in Southampton Town Justice Court. The status of his case was not immediately known Monday; neither were arraignment details.
