Cops: Hit-run driver injures Farmingville teen
A 14-year-old Farmingville boy was in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene early Saturday, Suffolk police said.
Police were searching for the vehicle last night and no arrests had been made.
Officers responded to a 911 call about 2 a.m. that a pedestrian was lying in Blue Point Road in Farmingville. The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.
The vehicle is believed to have front-end and headlight damage because broken glass was found at the scene, Det. Sgt. James Madden said.
Madden said the boy's injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening. His name was not released.
Madden said detectives interviewed the boy's mother, who said he had been spending the night at a friend's house.
At the time of the accident, the boy was returning to that house with a friend, Madden said.
That stretch of road has no sidewalks, he said.
