A health aide worker was arrested Friday on charges of stealing more than $10,000 from an Eastport client, Southampton Town police said.

Police said an Eastport resident had complained that over the past several months cash had gone missing from the home. An investigation revealed that a privately hired home health care worker allegedly was responsible for the recurring thefts, police said.

The aide, Susan Paetz, 37, of East Quogue, surrendered at Southampton Town police headquarters in Hampton Bays on Friday, police said.

She is charged with grand larceny and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at Southampton Town Justice Court.
