Police on Wednesday identified a motorist who was killed and two others who were hospitalized after a two-car collision earlier this week in Huntington.
Kalle Vellenurme, 80, was the driver of a Volvo sedan that made a left turn at 859 Jericho Tpke. at 8:59 a.m. Monday, police said, and was struck by a Ford pickup.
Vellenurme was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name had been withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
The two passengers in that car, identified Wednesday as Duncan Reeves, 49, and Michael Ferruzzi, 61, were admitted to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver and the passengers live at the same Huntington Station address.
Maria Quintana, of Nesconset, the driver of the pickup, was also taken to Huntington Hospital, where she was treated and released.
Detectives asked that anyone with information about the crash call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
