Cops investigate Suffolk police car crash in Farmingdale
A Suffolk County police car and a commercial vehicle crashed Friday morning in Farmingdale, causing minor injuries to the officer, Suffolk police said.
Police said the accident involved a First Precinct patrol car and the officer was taken to the hospital. The other driver was not injured, police said.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Allen Boulevard and Baiting Place Road at 7:51 a.m., police said.
Police had closed Allen at Route 110 and said Baiting Place Road was closed to traffic between Del Drive and Marine Street. The roads were reopened by 9:30 a.m., police said.
Investigators from the police Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. Police said that is routine procedure in any accident involving a police vehicle.
The Motor Carrier Safety Unit also responded to the scene. Police said that is standard procedure when a commercial vehicle is involved in a crash.
Other details of the crash were not immediately available Friday afternoon, including the cause.
