Cops investigating cause of fire at vacant Riverhead house
Riverhead Town police and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad are investigating the cause of an early morning fire Sunday at a vacant, boarded-up house in the town.
There were no injuries, police said.
The fire at the home on Melene Avenue was called in to police at 12:01 a.m., and Riverhead firefighters responding to the scene found “a small amount of fire” in the kitchen area, according to a news release.
