Cops: Jet skier dies after accident in Great South Bay

A Lindenhurst man riding a jet ski and circling his fishing boat in the Great South Bay was fatally injured Saturday when he struck the boat's anchor line, Suffolk police said.
According to police, Michael Mignone, 33, of Lindenhurst, was riding his Yamaha jet ski near the New York State Boat Channel at the time of the 4:50 p.m. accident.
The Coast Guard responded, driving Mignone on his own boat to Venetian Shores in Lindenhurst.
He was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
