Cops: License plate on road leads to hit-run driver
A woman who fled an accident scene Tuesday was found at her Flanders home after Southampton Town Police found her car's license plate on the roadway, police said.
A police spokesman said Wednesday Dorely Hernandez, 21, was involved in a motor-vehicle accident at about 5:30 p.m. at Montauk Highway and Mecox Road in Water Mill.
Police said two were injured in the accident and that Hernandez left the scene -- leaving behind a license plate.
Hernandez was arrested at about 10 p.m. at her home, police said.
She was released on an appearance ticket. Information on her next appearance in Southampton Town Court was not immediately available.
