Cops: Man attacked in Mastic home invasion
Seventh Squad detectives are investigating an early Tuesday home invasion in Mastic, in which two men assaulted one of the occupants, Suffolk County police said.
Police responded to a 911 call for a burglary at a Meadowmere Avenue residence at 12:45 a.m., police said.
A male resident of the home said two men entered his dark bedroom, with one man striking him over the head with a hard object. The two men took undisclosed items and fled in an unknown direction, police said.
At the time of the burglary, three children also were in the house, asleep in their rooms, police said.
None of the children was hurt, but the man was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was treated for minor injuries, including some stitches, police said.
Suffolk's Crime Scene and Canine units were called and searched for the two suspects, police said.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
