A Ronkonkoma man has been arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries over the past several months, Suffolk County police said Thursday.

Fifth Precinct Gang Unit officers arrested Vincent Heilig on Wednesday for six residential burglaries in the area, after an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Suffolk police said. A further investigation found Heilig was responsible for four additional burglaries in Ronkonkoma and Medford, police said.

Police said Heilig, 30, entered houses when residents were away and stole jewelry and money. The first burglary occurred in April 2013, police said, and the rest took place in December and January.

Heilig, of Ocean Avenue, is charged with 10 counts of second-degree burglary and one count of second-degree attempted burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
