A man found dead on the side of a road in Brentwood Sunday was the victim of a hit and run, Suffolk police said.
Police identified the man as Kieran Smith, 21, of Kings Park.
Police said they received a 911 call about 7:45 a.m. from a passing motorist who saw the body off Express Drive South of the Long Island Expressway just east of the Sagtikos Parkway.
Smith's Nissan was impounded in the ongoing investigation.
Smith "left his vehicle and was walking on Express Drive South when he was apparently struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene," police said in a statement.
Several nearby roads were closed briefly due to the investigation.
