Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man found on the porch of a house in Medford early Wednesday, Suffolk County police said.
Police responded to an emergency call of shots fired at about 5:41 a.m., and when they arrived at a house on Rose Lane they found Ronald Fitzgerald, 32, shot on the front porch, according to a news release.
He had been shot in the street a few blocks from his home, and then ran to the nearby porch, police said.
Police did not say how many times Fitzgerald had been shot, but said multiple bullets were fired.
State records indicate that Fitzgerald was released in November 2011 after serving 6 years in prison following drug possession and drug sale convictions.
Homicide investigators said it was too early to speculate whether drug activity was a factor in the shooting.
Detectives asked that anyone with more information on the incident call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
