A man found unconscious on the side of the road in Smithtown by a newspaper deliveryman early Tuesday was able to identify himself hours later, after being taken to a nearby hospital, Suffolk County police said.
The deliveryman found the man, in his 60s or 70s, unconscious and suffering from hypothermia, at the bottom of an embankment off Bishops Road at about 4:30 a.m., police said.
Police did not release the identity of the man, who was wearing pajamas when he was found.
