Suffolk County police identified the victim of a fatal accident as Carl Lunsford, 47. Lunsford was struck and killed Thursday night by a Federal Express delivery truck in Selden, police said. (Jan. 23, 2014) Credit: Christopher Sabella

A 47-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday by a Federal Express delivery truck in Selden, police said.

Suffolk County police identified the victim as Carl Lunsford. His home address was not immediately available.

Police said Lunsford was struck at 6:51 p.m. by a 2013 Ford FedEx delivery truck near the intersection of Magnolia Drive and Nelson Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FedEx driver, identified as Laurence Broggy, 27, was not charged in the accident.

Police said the truck was inspected by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section -- but was not impounded.

The investigation into the accident is continuing and police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
