Homicide detectives are investigating a home-invasion burglary that left one man dead Thursday morning in Mastic Beach, Suffolk County police said.

Odibor Agbimson, 23, was shot in front of his Bogota Road home at about 4:10 a.m. after fighting with two men, Suffolk police said.

Police said the two men broke down the door to Agbimson's house and entered it in a burglary attempt.

A fight broke out, with the men moving outside, police said.

Agbimson then was shot and the two men fled before police arrived at the scene.

He was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said they believe the incident was not random.

Seventh Precinct officers responded after a 911 call reported a shooting on Bogota Road. The caller told police two assailants fled the scene on foot.

A canine unit also was sent to the scene, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
