Suffolk detectives are investigating the crash near the intersection of 44th Street and Sunrise Highway, police said.

Witnesses said they saw the vehicle -- a 1996 Nissan Maxima -- traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway just after midnight when it crashed, rolled over and came to a stop in a nearby parking lot, according to the police report.

The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and later pronounced dead, police said. The victim's identity was not released.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the accident to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8146 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
