Cops: Man rams police car during drug arrest

A man found snorting heroin in his parked vehicle in Islandia crashed into a police car as he attempted to avoid arrest just after midnight Saturday, Suffolk County police said.
Police spotted Carmine Galarza, 42, of Brooklyn, in the parking lot of the Sunoco gas station at 1340 Motor Pkwy.
After police pulled behind Galarza, he backed into their vehicle. Then as he exited his sport utility vehicle, he briefly resisted arrest before officers took him into custody about 12:20 a.m., police said.
Galarza is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.
There were no injuries, police said.
Galarza was held at Suffolk's Fourth Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip.
