A man was arrested Thursday at his Nesconset home just about an hour after he robbed a Nesconset bank, Suffolk County police said.

Police said that Andreas Dambakakis, 30, entered People's United Bank, 465 Smithtown Blvd., at 8:41 a.m., handed a teller a note saying he had a gun and wanted cash put into his black messenger bag. After getting an unspecified amount of cash, he fled the bank on foot, police said.

He was charged by detectives with robbery in the third degree, will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct, and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
