Man seriously injured after one-car crash in Eastport, cops say

A one-car crash in Eastport early Saturday evening sent the driver to the hospital in serious condition, said Southampton Town police detectives, who are investigating the accident.
Det. Tim Wilson said Saturday night that the victim, a man in his 20s, was being treated at Stony Brook University Hospital.
The crash occured around 5 p.m. Saturday on Speonk Riverhead Road between Evergreen Avenue and Old Country Road. After the crash, rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to free the victim, police said.
