Cops: Man shot in Wyandanch
A 26-year-old man walking along Lake Drive in Wyandanch said two men exited a white sedan late Tuesday night and began shooting at him, striking him once in the leg.
The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk County police said. Now police are searching for the shooters.
Police identified the victim as Willie Freeman, 26. They said the incident occurred on Lake Drive near Jefferson Avenue at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
One of the men fired "numerous rounds" at Freeman, striking him once, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152. All calls will remain confidential. The investigation remains ongoing.
